Travel and accommodation

Ottawa airport is not far from downtown and the cab fare is affordable (c.$25). You can also take the bus (route 97) from the airport to downtown: it takes 25 minutes, runs every 15 minutes, and costs under $5. The major network of bus routes is known as the Transitway, and can get you efficiently between most areas of town for a flat rate. However, the University and most hotels are in comfortable walking distance of downtown and many attractions.

The conference is held in the Desmarais Building, 55 Laurier Avenue East, 5 minutes walk from the Novotel and other downtown hotels (campus map – the building is listed as “DMS”).

It may be that you do not find a cheap direct flight to Ottawa (especially if you are coming from Europe), but to Montreal. Once at Montreal Trudeau Airport, you can either take a short flight to Ottawa or the bus (operated by Greyhound; certain airlines also run their own shuttles). The Greyhound bus takes c.2 hours, and can let you off here, within sight of the conference venue and the Novotel. Trains also run from Trudeau Airport to Ottawa, but are typically less convenient.

We have 20 rooms booked from July 31 until Aug 02 at the Novotel, 5 minutes walk from the conference venue, with a special price of $115.00 (+tax). The price includes internet access and gym/swimming pool access. The offer is valid until July 21, 2013. After that, it will be regular price and availability might be different. Email us if you would like the booking code.
