Julie Pedneault-Deslauriers holds a PhD in music theory from McGill University (2010) and is Associate Professor of Music at the University of Ottawa since 2010. Her research centers on the late tonal and atonal works of the Second Viennese School composers; she is also interested in theories of musical form and the history of French music theory before Rameau. Her writings have appeared or are forthcoming in Music Theory Spectrum, the Journal of the American Musicological Society, Music Theory Online, the Journal of Musicology, Intégral, and the Canadian University Music Review as well as in the edited collection What is a Cadence? Theoretical and Analytical Perspectives on Cadences in the Classical Repertoire (with Nathan John Martin). She has co-edited the collection of essays Formal Functions in Perspectives: Essays in Musical Forms from Haydn to Adorno (with Steven Vande Moortele and Nathan John Martin). She is currently working on the music of Clara Wieck-Schumann.
